Open Access publishing of scientific articles - free of charge!
UiO researchers and students now have the opportunity to publish Open Access in Springer's journals. Springer offers Open Choice for over 1000 journal titles. The fee is already paid by the University Library (UB), and shall not be paid by the author.
This is an opportunity we hope our scientists make use of!
Springer offers Open Access publishing through Open Choice. If an article is published as Open Choice, it's freely available to anyone on the Internet. Procedures for peer review and quality requirements for this, are the same as for all Springer's articles.
Normally, Springer requires a publishing fee for articles published as Open Choice, but as part of our agreement with Springer, UiO employees don't have to pay the fee within the specified time period.
Open Choice is selected in the author agreement after the article has been accepted, see Order Open Choice / MyPublication. Open Choice applies to articles where the corresponding author is affiliated with the University of Oslo. Only the corresponding author has the opportunity to choose Open Choice.
The agreement with Springer apply to the universities of Bergen, Oslo, Tromsø¸ and Trondheim. The agreement is for one year (July 1, 2010 - July 1, 2011). Open Choice is part of the new license agreement for access to Springer's journals and e-books.
The list of Springer journals is available on the library's intranet, and requires Feide-login.
Interested to publish in other Open Access journals? An overview can be found in the database DOAJ (http://www.doaj.org/). Some require the publishing fee, others don't.
