Research cubicles in Georg Sverdrups hus

The University of Oslo has a few research cubicles on level 4 of Georg Sverdrups hus, Blindern. Two of the cubicles are for two persons, the remainder for one.

Guidelines for research cubicles in Georg Sverdrups hus

Established by the Rector 27.06.2012

  1. The following groups may apply for a research cubicle:

    1. PhD candidates who have been employed by the University of Oslo, but who have not finished their thesis before the expiry of their employment contract (PhD candidates on overtime). Retired professors and associate professors (not adjunct professors or adjunct associate professors) from the University of Oslo.
    2. Guest researches at the University of Oslo
  2. The research cubicles are offered for a limited time that cannot be extended

    1. PhD candidates on overtime up to two semesters
    2. Retired professors up to four semesters
    3. Guest researches up to two semesters
  3. Use of the cubicles

    1. The research cubicles may only be used during the building's opening hours
    2. Persons with a research cubicle have the same access to the services of the University Library as employees of the University of Oslo
    3. Users of the cubicles must themselves provide any computer equipment they wish to use. Possessions kept in the cubicle are not insured by the University of Oslo
    4. The cubicles are ordinary office workplaces. The user is responsible for any damage to the cubicle or furnishings resulting from their use
    5. The cubicles are furnished with a desk, chair and shelves. Any need for further furnishing must be in agreement with the University Library
  4. Announcement, deadlines and application

    1. Announcement is only through a standard announcement on the web
    2. Deadlines for application are 1 May and 1 November for the following semester
    3. Applications must be made on a special form, available on the web
    4. PhD candidates on overtime and retired professors and associate professors apply on their own behalf
    5. For guest researchers applications must be made by their faculty or department 
    6. Application marked «Kleve» should be sent to:
          Universitetsbiblioteket i Oslo, administrasjonen
          Postboks 1085 Blindern
          0317 Oslo
    7. Cubicle places are allocated by the University Library according to these guidelines. The decision is final, and no justifications will be given
  5. Agreement and keys

    1. An agreement of use will be signed in the administration at the University of Oslo Library
    2. Key will be given on signing
    3. The key should be returned at the same place when the agreement expires
  6. The University of Oslo takes no responsibility for any consequences of a lack of knowledge of these guidelines

  7. These guidelines apply to allocation of cubicles from the spring semester 2013 and replace previous guidelines
