UBOs PITRO Project

Institutional cooperation between the University of Oslo and the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The purpose of the project is to foster research and academic cooperation between the two universities and to support the University of Dar es Salaam’s vision of becoming "a reputable world-class university that is responsive to national, regional and global development needs through engagement in dynamic knowledge creation and application". The project is a cooperation between various University of Oslo Departments and their counterparts at the University of Dar es Salaam.

As part of the project a cooperation was started fall 2009, between the University of Oslo Library (UBO) and the University of Dar es Salaam Library (UDSL).

Working tasks:

1. Digitization of UDSM Library-East Africana Swahili/Arabic Manuscripts
2. Digital Libray - fulfilment of e-resources
3. Interlending
