This course is tailored to the needs of HGO4011 students for finding library resources in preparation for their Masters thesis. The course will consist of a short lecture and a workshop where each student will make use of databases to find articles and books for their thesis.
This course gives a brief introduction to research ethics and to citing sources according to scholarly standards. The course is aimed at master students planning their Master's thesis.
At the master program, you will need to know how to locate relevant research material. In this course, you will learn search techniques, as well as get to know central databases and resources for your studies.
In this course we use the first 30 minutes to learn to use the basic functions in Macrobond statistical database and some other central statistics databases. The next 45 minutes we go through the essentials of the new library search engines Oria, the most common subject databases and internet archives in economics.
You will learn about the library services for master students. How to find your way through the jungle of information, in time for the exam.
