Cycling through the Andes Mountains in search of geological adventures
Welcome to the Science Library to hear Olivier Galland, researcher in volcanology at the University of Oslo, talk about the adventures of the Andean Geotrail expedition. In the entrance hall of Vilhelm Bjerknes house you will find an amazing photo exhibition from the expedition.
From Ushuaia at the southern tip of Argentina to Lima, Peru, it’s more than 4800 km as the crow flies. During nine months in 2008/2009 the French couple Olivier and Caroline biked along the long and winding roads crisscrossing the Andes Mountains to explore volcanoes, glaciers, oil fields, salt deserts and silver mines, and to meet the people who live among these geological wonders. In the talk Olivier guides us through their adventures along the Geotrail. Welcome!
Soup and refreshments will be sold in the Foyer from 16:00
