Hands-on workshop in Software Carpentry

Software Carpentry's mission is to help scientists and engineers get more research done in less time and with less pain by teaching them basic lab skills for scientific computing.

Instructors: Arvind Sundaram, Hugues Fontenelle, Karin Lagesen, Lex Nederbragt.


This hands-on workshop will cover basic concepts and tools, including automating tasks with the Unix shell, version control with Git and building programs with Python.

Participants will be encouraged to help one another and to apply what they have learned to their own research problems.


The course is aimed at graduate students and other researchers from UiO and OUS, and tailored towards those with very little to no experience in the subjects taught.
