Fram 2014/2015: Exhibition opening

Guest of honor Prof. emeritus Yngve Kristoffersen will give a talk on the adventures and the science of the 2014/2015 FRAM expedition.

Don’t miss the story about the latest Norwegian expedition to the arctic region 118 years after Nansen! Two men, Prof. emeritus Yngve Kristoffersen from Bergen and photographer Audun Tholfsen from Longyearbyen drifted with the ice for one year to collect valuable scientific data from the arctic region. Under demanding conditions they’ve managed 303 science days out of the 353 days long expedition.

Why did it take so long for Norwegians to head to the polar ice again? Has the Arctic Ocean been hit by an asteroid? What is really the price of a project like this? What is life like on the ice? What kind of scientific data did they manage to collect?

Program:

  • 15:30 arrival and mingling and viewing the exhibition
  • 16:15 lecture by Yngve Kristoffersen at The Science Library, Vilhelm Bjerknes’ hus

The exhibition will be open from January 25th till March 2nd.
