Referencing and sources

Image

Referencing involves indicating sources in running text and giving detailed information in a reference list or bibliography. Reference styles specify how referral should be done (i.e. notes or parentheses), and give rules for lay-out, punctuation and ordering of entries in reference lists or bibliographies.

Different subject areas prefer different reference styles, and most journals specify a style.  If no particular style is required, choose one and use it consistently.
