What is referencing?
Referencing is showing your reader where you have found your information.
Referencing means:
- giving accurate information about the sources you have used in your work
- giving this information both in your running text (in footnotes or in the text itself) and in a list of works cited or a bibliography.
Through referencing, you demonstrate:
- that you master an essential element of academic writing
- that you have understood the norms of scientific integrity
