some for 4-12. The most clinically oriented books are especiallly relevant in the last semesters.

Good systematic book, well updated, frequent new editions. Has both basic and clinical pharmacology and some toxicology, although basic pharmacology is fairly briefly described, because this is a textbook aimed at American students. Much improved last edition. The illustrations are good, and most chapters start with a case. Relatively large textbook.

This book represents a new way of approaching pharmacology with presentation of drugs and their mechanisms of action in the context of the diseases to treat. Thus the book also covers essential aspects of various diseases, although the presentation of the various drugs is rather brief.

This book has very good illustrations and highlights main points. A good introcutory textbook, but does not cover the entire curriculum.

This book has an integrated profile providing an understanding of drug action in the framework of physiology, biochemistry and pathophysiology. Both teachers and students at Harvard Medical School and at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine have collaborated in writing the book. The book is well designed. Most chapters are appropriate but some aspects are deficient.

A brilliant book, but is too long to be used as a textbook for the exam. Suited as a reference book you wish to go further in depth. Covers basic pharmacology/biology, clinical pharmacology and therapy as well as toxicology.
Toxicology: 4th-12th semester
Most of the Pharmacology textbooks have chapters on Toxicology. In addition there will be material handed out during the lectures. If you are especially interested, the following books are mentioned:

New edition every 2.-3. year.
