Translated Norwegian legislation

Collected by the Law Library, University of Oslo

The collection on the present site consists mostly of translations initiated by Governmental Agencies, Royal Ministries and private institutions. The translations are unofficial and only updated at the time of the translation. Should any doubt arise, the Norwegian text of the Act is valid and binding. The aim of the Law Library is to make any translation of Norwegian legislation (acts and regulations) available to the public. In addition these texts may well provide our users with accurate and workable equivalents of legal Norwegian in English. The library itself does not undertake any translation work.

Most entries have links to the acts and regulations in fulltext, either as html, word-files or in pdf-format. However, electronic versions are still not available for all texts. In some cases, you will either find references to printed versions only, links to bibliographic records in the library database Bibsys Ask, or references made to "Norwegian laws" - a collection of translated legal texts, selected and published by the Royal Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Oslo 1980. You may order relevant copies or borrow the items if you contact the library. If you come across any additional legislation which is not present in the database, or more current versions of translations already present, please contact eli.hegna@ub.uio.no
