Welcome to the University library
Welcome new students, welcome returning students! We look forward to seeing you at the library and helping you to find literature, perform searches and guide you with your writing.

The University library has several departments which are separated into four subject areas: law, medicine, science and humanities and social sciences (HumSam). Here is an overview of all the libraries.
From 10th August the libraries are open again, almost as usual, but with a few preventative measures against Coronavirus.
Most of the study places and group study rooms must be booked in advance. You book a study place in TP and select Room type: reading room. At the top of the booking page you will find a guide on how to book study places.
Some spaces you can just drop-in to, such as sofas and seating in certain areas.
Literature and curriculum books
In the library you will find the literature you need for your studies, on the shelf and digitally. We have more than 2 million books. Search in Oria and open a digital versjon of the book, or find it on the shelf and borrow it using the self-service machine.

Help with writing
The Academic writing centre can assist you with improving your writing. You will find them in the HumSam-library in Georg Sverdrups hus, and they are a service for all students at UiO. At the writing centre you will meet other students who are trained writing mentors, and you can discuss your ideas, drafts and questions about the writing process with them.
On the website Search & Write you will find tips and advice on all the phases of the writing process.
Take care of yourself and others, wash your hands and keep your distance, and let's make the most of this semester.
