The library gives you access to even more e-books

You now have access to over 2,500 e-books at Emerald via the University Library!

UB has started a new Evidence Based Acquisition (EBA) agreement with the publisher Emerald. Emerald is a well-established publisher in the social sciences, but they also have a number of titles in health, criminology and the humanities. The agreement gives UiO's employees and students access to all e-books. The agreement period started on 15 November 2021 and lasts for one year.

Where do I find the books?

You can find all the books on the Emerald website and the books are also available in Oria.

What is an EBA agreement?

An Evidence Based Acquisition agreement is an agreement that provides access to a large package of e-books for an extended period of time. This way, the library can provide a larger selection of e-books than is possible with traditional purchases. At the same time, we retain access to a number of titles even after the agreement period is over. At that point the library gets an overview of the usage of the e-books and can select the ones we want to keep in our collection within a pre-agreed sum. We choose the titles we want to keep based on both usage throughout the period and other criteria, e.g. we prioritize syllabus literature.
