Take Away Library

The University Library has opened a limited service where you can collect highly needed material from our printed collections. It is also possible to return books you have borrowed. Read more about the service.

Access to e-books, online journals and legal sources.

Employees and students at UiO can access all our digital resources from home. Other, external patrons can only access open-access resources.

You can find links to selected resources from the subject page for Law. A complete list of our databases is available in Oria. Our subject page contains, among other things, an overview over where to find e-books.

Oria is our discovery tool for finding most of the available literature and resources. Some e-books are not indexed, please use the overview as mentioned above.

How to search if you want to narrow your search to electronic literature:

  1. Enter your search expression and press the magnifying glass.
  2. Use the filter “Full Text Online” on the left-hand side to show electronic resources.

Need help to access the resources in Oria? Use our guide “Reading articles online”. It is the same method for e-books as for journal articles.

It is not possible to order printed books or articles as long as the Library premises are closed.

Extraordinary access due to Covid-19

Universitetsforlaget has opened their database, Idunn.no for everyone. Idunn.no contains over 36 000 journal articles and book chapters. And also over 70 scientific journals and some e-books.

Cambridge University Press has opened access to their textbooks for everyone through their platform Cambridge Core. Free access is available until the end of May 2020. This is in addition to the e-books purchased by the Library that is available only for UiO students and employees.

The National Library provides digital access to legally deposited books, newspapers and journals to everyone through their Online Library. All students can sign in with Feide. (Scientific staff can log in as before.)

Students then have access to everything in NB's search, including what is marked "Can only be opened in the National Library". Access is provided for 8 hours at a time.
