Copyright and licensing

Learn about what copyright is, who owns data, and what kinds of licenses we can use for research data.

Course presentation

 

In this 90-minute course we will discuss what copyright is in the context of research data and what it means to license research outputs. We will look over different types of licenses that you can consider for research data. We will also discuss differences between international and Norwegian regulations for copyright and licensing.

We will wrap up with a question and answer session where you will be able to ask us any questions you might have about copyright and licensing!

Target Audience

PhD students, postdocs, researchers, and research support staff at the University of Oslo.

Learning Objectives

After the workshop, you:

  • are familiar with the concept of copyright
  • have overview over different types of licenses for research data
  • are aware of different regulations for copyright and licensing

Setup

The course will take place digitally on Zoom and meeting link will be sent out to the registered participants the day before the course. The course is delivered by Digital Scholarship Center at the University of Oslo Library.
