Research Bazaar: Introduction to Motion Capture
(Full, with waiting list)
This workshop will give an overview of the analysis of human movement using motion capture systems.
A brief introduction to various motion capture systems will be given, including camera-based and sensor-based systems. Then follows a hands-on session with the Qualisys optical motion capture system at the Department of Musicology. This includes learning how to calibrate the system, put on a motion capture suit, placement of markers, carrying out a capture, and pre-processing the data for further analysis. Finally, examples of motion capture experiments will be presented and discussed.
The workshop is for any audience, but will be of particular interest for graduate students and researchers interested in human movement, animation, videogames, computer science, music.
Taking part does not require any particular background.
