Onsdagsfilmen: Robinson in space

Poetic, witty, ironic, artsy and –most of all- endlessly fun in the most quirky way, Patrick Keiller’s visual project is an elegy to post-industrial society.

The voice-over and distanced technique serves the aim of shaping a critical and sarcastic atmosphere that comments in acidic ways on “the problem of Britain”, through stunning images of ports, cities and industry. The “problem of London” was in its “absence”, Keiller noted in this film’s prequel. In this film, he tackles absence in ways we can all relate to.

Director: Patrick Keiller (1997)
