Far-right movements in Georgia and Ukraine, like similar movements around the world, have often been on the news. This has been especially true for Ukraine since the invasion, with Putin’s claims about the need to “de-nazify” the country. In these discussions, the movements themselves and their activities tend to be overshadowed by either outright propaganda or sensationalist media coverage.

Drawing on research on Georgian and Ukrainian far-right movements since the Color Revolutions (2003 in Georgia and 2004 in Ukraine), Tamta Gelashvili will discuss the ideology these movements promote, the activities they take part in in parliaments and on the streets, and the way they relate to other political and societal actors internally and abroad.
