Books and journals

Where can I find printed books and journals in mathematics and statistics at the Science Library?

New books

New books can be found in the new collection in the shelves next to the front desk. These books are ordered by the classification system Dewey (DDC-23), and they have numbers from 510 to 520.

Older books

Older books in mathematics and statistics can be found on the long wall next to the entrance, and on some shelves far east in the library. These books are ordered by a variant of the classification system Mathematical Subject Classification (MSC).

Journals

Selected journals can be found on the 2.mezzanine in Vilhelm Bjerknes' House. Note that these journals have been moved temporarily due to renovation.

In storage

Many older books and some printed journals (that often have electronic access) are stored under Sophus Lie's House. Most of them can be ordered in Oria.

PhD- and Master's theses are stored under Vilhelm Bjerknes' House. Most of them can be ordered in Oria.

Can't find it?

If you want a book, journal or article that we do not have in printed or electronic form, you can order it in Oria. Note that this function is currently unavaliable; please send us your request by e-mail on realfagsbiblioteket@ub.uio.no.

If you order material, you will receive a pick-up notice when the item is avaliable for you at the Science Library.
