Here you will find opening hours at our libraries. 

Archaeological library

Access to pick up and return books:

  • Monday - Thursday: 10-14.30 (closed 11.30-12)
  • Closed June 16

Return books outside the library:

  • to the cabinet outside the main entrance of Domus Juridica, Monday - Friday 09-14.

Up to and including 15 August 2021:

Students and staff have access using their access card and code: 

  • Access round the clock

The desk is staffed:

  • Monday - Friday: 10:00-12:00
  • The desk is closed 1 - 31 July 2021  

Return books outside the library:

  • to the cabinet outside the main entrance of Domus Juridica, Monday - Friday 09-14.
  • cabinet outside the Dentistry library entrance.

  • The library is closed.

Humanities and Social Sciences library in Georg Sverdrups Hus

Open to everyone - without a card:

  • Monday - Friday: 10:00-15:00

Open with a UiO card and PIN code:

  • Monday - Friday: 08:00-10:00 and 15:00-22:00

The desk is staffed:

  • Monday - Friday 09:00-16:00

Those without a UiO-card who are inside the Library when the door closes are welcome to stay.

The entrance and card reader is outside to the left of the large rotating door.


Summer Opening Hours June 19 - August 15:

Open to everyone - without a card: 

  • Monday - Friday: 10:00-15:00
  • Saturday and Sunday: Closed

Open with a UiO card and PIN code:

  • Monday - Friday: 08:00-10:00 
  • Saturday and Sunday: Closed

The desk is staffed:

  • Monday - Friday 09:00-15:00

Medical library at Rikshospitalet

Students and staff have access using their OUS access card and code:

Medical library services at The Norwegian Radium Hospital

Our office at The Norwegian Radium Hospital is currently closed. The library offers digital help and guidance, please see the subject guide for medicine.

Natural History Museum - Library

Until the new library is ready in 2021, all material can be ordered via oria.no and will be sent directly to the respective mail shelves.

Material found at NHM can be picked up directly from the shelves. The loan is registered by sending an e-mail to nhm-bibliotek@ub.uio.no.

Borrowed books are sent by internal mail to the Science Library, PO Box 1063 Blindern. Books from NHM's collections must be returned as normal.

Student Library Sophus Bugge

Students and staff have access with their card and code during the building's opening hoursand study seats are available for booking via tp

The desk is staffed:

  • Monday-Friday:10:00-14:00
  • Borrowing and returning books when the desk is closed: Self service
  • The Library is only available for students and staff with a card and code.
