Humanities and Social Sciences library in Georg Sverdrups Hus

Opening hours during the security guards' strike

Due to the ongoing strike among the security guards, the library is not available with a card at the moment. Our opening hours are now these for all patrons:

Open to everyone - without a card: 

  • Monday - Friday: 08:00-18:00
    (The desk is unstaffed between 08:00 and 10:00)
  • Saturday and Sunday: 10:00-14:00

Open with a UiO card and PIN code:

  • Monday - Friday: 18:00-22:00
  • Saturday and Sunday: 14:00-18:00
  • The desk is unstaffed
  • Those without a UiO-card that are inside the Library when the door closes are welcome to stay.

  • The entrance and card reader is outside to the left of the large swing door.

Informatics library

Staffed and open to everyone:

  • Monday-Thursday: 08:30-19:00
  • Friday: 08:30-17:00
  • To enter Ole-Johan Dahls hus after 18:00 an access card is necessary.

  • The library is temporarily closed for external users.

Medical library at Rikshospitalet

Staffed and open to everyone:

  • Monday-Friday: 08:00-19:00
  • Saturday: 10:00-15:00

Medical library services at The Norwegian Radium Hospital

Our office at The Norwegian Radium Hospital is currently closed due to the Oslo City Government's compulsory home office working coronavirus measure. The library offers digital help and guidance, please see the subject guide for medicine.

Natural History Museum - Library

Until the new library is ready in 2021, all material can be ordered via oria.no and will be sent directly to the respective mail shelves.

Material found at NHM can be picked up directly from the shelves. The loan is registered by sending an email to nhm-bibliotek@ub.uio.no.

Borrowed books are sent by internal mail to the Science Library, PO Box 1063 Blindern. Books from NHM's collections must be returned as normal.
