The publishing fund is closed

UiO's publishing fund was wound up in 2018. This means that there are no centralized fundings for payment of APC (article processing charges) at UiO beyond what is covered by the publishing agreements.

The fund lasted from 2013-2018, and was an effective tool for increasing open access publishing at UiO. However, the institutional publishing fund and financially sustainable model were not when the volume of open publishing increased. In 2018, the available funds, NOK 3 millions, were distributed within just 19 days.

Open Access through publishing agreements

UiO works with other Norwegian institutions through Unit (Directorate for ICT and joint services in higher education and research), in order to negotiate new agreements with academic publishers. See list over current agreements.

Books (monographs, anthologies) are not included in the publishing agreements. As there is no separate publishing fund at UiO, you must provide financing yourself if you want to publish your book with open access.
