The Visual Navigation project is run by the University of Oslo Library in collaboration with the Department of Informatics and by support of the National Library of Norway. The project started in September 2016 and has a duration of two years.
How can we visualize our library collection?
The Visual Navigation project is focused on library users searching for knowledge in an increasingly digital world. The project aims to enhance the user’s visual experience while searching for information, to inspire and to increase the use of library resources.
Based on a variety of user input, we create navigation prototypes that allow for visual exploration of the University Library’s collection. Furthermore, we investigate how we can integrate these prototypes in the physical library space, for example through touchscreens and touch tables.
Part of the project is linked to the innovative use of the considerable resources that are embedded in the development of Norwegian subject terminology. Read more.
