Summary
This week, we carried out an initial usability test of Emnesøk, the system which allows users to search for subjects using a number of subject vocabularies in use at UiO. This led to a number of potential feature enhancements, which we will address in the coming period. Furthermore, we discussed social media strategies at UiO and for the Visual Navigation Project.
Specific activities, including
- Updating Visual Navigation Project website (21.03.17)
- Refining previous news posts, explorative studies posts, updating project description (e.g., adding links to work so far for each stream)
- Usability analysis of Emnesøk (Hugo, 23/24.03.17)
- Performing an extensive step-by-step analysis of the interface of Emnesøk (text, buttons, “flow”, functionality)
- Creating list of issues, basic improvement suggestions
- Taking into account different usability principles, leading to a list of feature enhancements ordered by priority
