Summary

This week, we revised our VIRAK proposals based on received feedback. Furthermore, we started planning the design and development of a new touch table application, related to the Abel Prize “for outstanding scientific work in the field of mathematics”. Furthermore, we joined a gigamapping session, further mapping out front and back-end library infrastructure in conjunction with the Digital Services department.

Specific activities, including

  • Revise / submit remaining VIRAK conference proposals
  • Update all five proposals based on received feedback

Meetings, including

1. Planning a touch table application related to the Abel Prize, for an exhibition in the Science Library (Linn, Hugo, Karoline, Dan Michael)

  • Create a streamlined, timeline-based touch table application, taking into account lessons learned from previous touch table applications
  • Gather 4 articles per Abel year (for the last 5 years), winner biographies, related YouTube videos, “about” page
  • Check possibility to use library info screen for related content
  • Perhaps: add navigation possibility for videos (DM).
  • Table / exhibition should be finished Monday 15th of May (Abel prize event: 24 May)

2. Discussing activities various projects(Hugo, Andrea)

  • Visual Navigation Project, UX project, Frilux, upcoming “Cultures of Machine Participation” workshop organized by the Dept. of Informatics

3. Gigamapping Session follow-up (Ahmed, Andrea, Dan Michael, Hugo, Håvard, Kristian)

  • Gigamapping session, finishing mapping out the infrastructure of the back-end and front-end software in use at UiO (including data flows and responsibilities). This session was a follow-up of earlier mapping and organization sessions, and is related to the UX and Visual Navigation project. Next, Andrea and Hugo will recreate the maps in a digital format.
