Learning Objectives
This course will give an introduction to AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) like ChatGPT, NotebookLM and Copilot. The course is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. First, we’ll talk a bit about how language models work, and what possibilities and limitations they have. Then we’ll demonstrate some practical usage, with the main focus on NotebookLM. The course concludes with exercises, including tasks in GPT UiO and NotebookLM.

Prior knowledge and implementation
- No prior knowledge is required.
- Format: In-person course
- Bring: Laptop
- To use NotebookLM, you must consent to UiO sharing your email address with Google Workspace. Go to Consent for services at UiO and give your "Consent for the use of Google Workspace at UiO." After 15 minutes, you can log in to Google services using your <username>@uio.no (Feide ID).
- Some of the exercises in the course involve translating text or getting feedback on writing. It would be great if you could prepare a short text in advance (half a page is enough) that you have written yourself or know well.
