Data Carpentry: Social Sciences and Humanities Using R, May 27-28

Data Carpentry develops and teaches workshops on the fundamental data skills needed to conduct research. Its target audience is researchers who have little to no prior computational experience, and its lessons are domain-specific, building on learners' existing knowledge to enable them to quickly apply skills learned to their own research.

Who is this workshop for?

  • For graduate students and other researchers who:
    • want to learn practical data management, data wrangling and visualization, but have no or little previous knowledge
    • want to learn the programming language R and have no or little previous knowledge
    • want to refresh their data management, data wrangling and visualization knowledge from a very basic level
  • If you are one of the following, you are encouraged to join as either an individual or team helper:
    • You are a data wrangler in other programming languages and want to learn R as a new language
    • You are competent with data management in spreadsheets and data analysis with R, and want or need your team members to learn data management and R from basics, but have no time or confidence to teach by yourself  

Prerequisites

Workshop format

The workshop runs from 09:00-16:30 over two days. There is ample time set aside for shorter and longer breaks.

Your instructors and helpers will be available throughout the workshop.
