Course description
Creative Computing Hub Oslo (C2HO) presents an immersive workshop on Interactive and Dynamic Data Visualization using Python. Effective data visualization is crucial for understanding complex information and is vital for both research and public dissemination.
In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn to create visually striking and informative plots using popular Python libraries like Matplotlib and Plotly. You’ll discover how to craft interactive charts that reveal additional details upon hovering, as well as dynamic visualizations that capture evolving data trends over time.
Target audience
Students and Researcher at UiO.
Learning outcomes
- Utilize Python packages Matplotlib and Plotly to create dynamic plots (data visualizations that change over time) in Jupyter Notebooks.
- Create interactive plots using Matplotlib and Plotly, where additional information is displayed upon mouse hover or click in Jupyter Hub.
- Export dynamic and interactive plots for use outside Jupyter Hub, such as for integrating them into a webpage.
Prerequisites and required materials
- A basic understanding of Python and familiarity with at least one scientific computing package (such as NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, Plotly or equivalent).
- Laptop with access to a Google Chrome browser.
- Create a WordPress account
Lunch
- There will be a complementary buffet-lunch at 12:00-13:00 from the Sverdrups spiseri (Georg Sverdrups Hus, 2nd floor).
- After you get your lunch, join us at Store møterom where we have reserved seats for #DSDays25 participants.
