Course description

ParaView is a powerful open-source data analysis and visualization tool designed to handle large-scale scientific datasets. It supports interactive 3D visualization, parallel processing, and is highly extensible through Python scripting and plugins. ParaView is widely used in research, engineering, and academic settings for tasks ranging from simple data exploration to complex, high-performance computing (HPC) visualization. This workshop aims to provide an overview of ParaView and its usage in the context of NAIC (Norwegian AI Cloud).

Participants will explore ParaView's user interface, learn techniques for data processing and visualization, and utilize ParaView's Python API for scripting. The workshop will also introduce the development of plugins to extend ParaView's capabilities and demonstrate the parallel processing and visualization features of ParaView using the NAIC infrastructure.

The workshop is sponsored by the NAIC project with the RCN Grant Number: 322336.

Target audience

Anyone who is interested in learning ParaView for data visualization tasks.

Learning outcomes

  • Understand how to navigate and use ParaView's user interface.
  • Learn essential techniques for data processing and visualization with ParaView.
  • Utilize ParaView's Python API for scripting and automation of tasks.
  • Develop and extend ParaView's functionality through the use of plugins.
  • Explore and leverage ParaView's parallel processing capabilities within the NAIC infrastructure.
