Course description
Going to collect and handle personal data? A little talk on some of the lessons learned from the QualiaFAIR Hub/Node (https://www.uv.uio.no/ils/english/about/organization/tlvlab/qualifair/) including our experience with public interest as legal basis. Also some practical advice on SIKT Notification form, Legal basis and some pointers to UiO tools for recording voice and video. This talk will look at legal basis for research, some advice on the SIKT notification form for research with personal data, and look at what legal basis is and how the legal option of research in the public interest can be used. Some advice on UiO tools and systems for handling personal data and recording audio and video with UiO approved tools.
Target audience
PhD candidates, researchers and admin staff that uses qualitative data that involves personal data challenges
Learning outcomes
Learning outcome is expected to be better understanding of the possible legal basis for research and there strengths and weaknesses and some better understanding of the SIKT notification form and relevant UiO tools for collecting video/audio data.
Prerequisites and requirements
- Some knowledge on GDPR and basic UiO routines for handling personal data in research is recommended but the course should be useful without this.
- Bring laptop.
Lunch
- There will be a complementary buffet-lunch at 12:00-13:00 from the Sverdrups spiseri (Georg Sverdrups Hus, 2nd floor).
- After you get your lunch, join us at Store møterom where we have reserved seats for #DSDays2026 participants.
