Course description

Project management is a necessary skill for students and researchers who are managing many different components of their research projects on a
daily basis. However, it is rarely taught in academia.

In this course, we will introduce the basics of project management in the academic
context, including what projects are, what needs to be managed in academic research, what are most typical project management methods for
different types of research, and what to think about when managing time, risk, people, communication, data and information in research projects.

Throughout the course we include exercises for the participants to reflect on and discuss their own projects and project management
needs, as well as some solutions that they could implement right away.

Target audience

The workshop is designed for broad audiences across research disciplines. The primary target audience are early career researchers (PhD candidates and postdocs). Senior researchers, professors and research support staff are also welcome to attend.
