Being a PhD candidate requires much more than just writing and completing your PhD project. It is also an opportunity to acquire important competencies that you will use in your career as a researcher, such as knowing how to find, appraise, and handle different sources of information.
We have the pleasure to invite all new PhD candidates at the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Dentistry to a seminar that will be helpful in the early phase of your PhD journey. This day works as a supplement to MF9010E INTRO I, the introductory course to the medical PhD program.
Time: Thursday, November 5th 9 am – 3 pm
Place: Digitally in Zoom. Link will be sent two days before the course by e-mail.
This seminar is voluntary.
Program
- Introduction to the University library resources
- Introduction to literature searching
- Critical appraisal of articles
- Use of sources and referencing
- Introduction to reference management software Zotero.
Registration
The course is open to all students and employees of UiO and OUS, but the priority is given to PhD candidates from the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Dentistry. We ask that other applicants wait until October 30th to register. Registration closes two days before the course. There is no limitation to the number of participants, but the seminar will be cancelled if less than 12 people sign up.
