Course description

More and more researchers across disciplines are preregistering their hypotheses, methods, and analysis plans before they collect or analyze the data. Preregistration motivates us to think more carefully about research designs, helps prevent manipulating the study outcomes, and increases research transparency and visibility. But how and where do we preregister research studies?

In the first part of this course we will introduce the concept of preregistration and discuss its benefits and challenges. We will also give you a step-by-step guide on how to preregister research studies and an overview over different online platforms where you can preregister your research.

In the second part of the course, we will dive deeper into the process of preregistration on Open Science Framework (OSF) - a well-developed platform for research registration and sharing, including a walk-through multiple preregistration templates that OSF offers.

We will wrap up with a question and answer session where you will be able to ask us any questions you might have about preregistration!
