This course is a part of HF's PhD week.
Learning outcomes
After attending this workshop, you will know how to use Zotero to
- collect and organize sources you may have or find in Oria, Google Scholar, and other databases, or record manually
- import PDFs and use Zotero's PDF-reader
- share and publish bibliographic databases
- cite as you write in Word or Google Docs
- create reference lists in different reference styles
We will cover these steps in the first two hours of the course. The third course hour offers optional time to practice and get help working with the tool.
Registration
The course is open to PhD fellows, completion grant holders, and post-doctoral fellows at the Faculty of Humanities, other UiO faculties, and external PhD fellows. Registration opens on March 3 and priority is given to PhDs and postdocs from the Faculty of Humanities. We ask that PhDs and postdocs from other Faculties at UiO, and other applicants, wait until on March 17 to register. Registration closes when the course has reached its maximum number of participants.
Practical information
Please bring your laptop with Zotero installed.
1. Install Zotero.
- Private laptop: download and install from Zotero (free)
- UiO's laptop: install from Software Center
2. Get the Zotero Connector for your browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari).
- Pin the connector to your browser.
3. Register to get a free account with a username and password of your choice.
- Add your UiO email for unlimited storage, and another email to keep your library when you leave UiO.
Working methods
Demonstration with practical examples and exercises. Instruction will be in English, unless everyone is competent in Norwegian, and we can also answer questions in Norwegian.
