The exhibition consists of a selection of photographs taken by photographer Yamile Calderón. The images are part of the research project Pandemic Entanglements: The Political Ecology of Industrial Meat Production in the "Pandemic Era", which examines how repeated outbreaks of avian influenza affect the poultry industry in Norway and Denmark. Calderón is a partner in the project, and the photographs were taken in connection with fieldwork in Denmark and Norway, while she participated in the fieldwork on equal footing with the project researchers. The project is funded by The Norwegian Research Council through its Fripro program.
Program
In this project, artists and human geographers have collaborated. What possibilities are created through such a collaboration? Can we explore and understand complex relationships like the ones between industrial meat production and emerging infectious diseases in a new way? How does radical interdisciplinarity contribute to illuminating some of the biggest challenges society faces? What challenges can be expected in such a collaboration? These are topics that today’s panel will discuss.
