UiO's team won a gold medal in the international molecular biology competition, iGEM! The Science Library invites you to a celebration with cake, where this year's team will present their project Detectimol, and you will also learn how you can participate next year.
Welcome to the talk "Reading Earth's hard drive", by Associate Professor at Department of Geosciences Mathew Michael Domeier.
Welcome to the talk "Drones, a unique perspective on features of the natural world", by senior engineer at Department of Geosciences Luc Girod.
Welcome to a conference on discovery and prediction in complex geo systems. AI/ML shows promise for accelerating Bayesian inversions, is able to capture and identify controlling features of high fidelity models, and appears to improve complex system analysis, including extending predictive horizons, for reasons that are not fully understood. This conference focuses on efforts to advance the use of AI/ML to understand physical processes in the geosciences and adjacent fields.
Welcome to the talk Bringing rocks from Mars to Earth – why, how and are we ready for it?, by geologist and planetary scientist at Department of Geosciences Agata Krzesinska.
David Brian Charbonneau and Sara Seager received the 2024 Kavli Prize in Astrophysics "for their pioneering work on the discovery and characterization of exoplanets and their atmospheres". As part of the program for Kavliprisuka in September, they will give a lecture about their discoveries at the Science Library.
Lecture by John Lennox, Professor Emeritus of Mathematics at the University of Oxford and Emeritus Fellow in Mathematics and the Philosophy of Science at Green Templeton College, Oxford.
Welcome to 2024's first BioTorsdag! This time, Professor Dirk Linke at the Department of Biosciences will unravel the intricate relationship between molecular biology, medicine, and the conservation of biodiversity.
