Through personal observations, encounters with planetary science, and curiosity, artist Marius Mathisrud reflects on a shift in perspective: from asking what makes a planet habitable to exploring ideas of luck, curiosity, imagination and our peculiar ability to make sense of the universe. This talk introduces the beginnings of a collaboration between the artist and researchers.
Marius Mathisrud is an Oslo-based visual artist working across sculpture, film, and spatial installations. Since graduating from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague in 2017, he has developed an artistic practice exploring the relationship between technology, society, and human existence.
His work investigates questions of individuality, identity, and ethics, with a particular interest in how our understanding of ourselves changes as the technological systems surrounding us become increasingly complex and pervasive.
