This month, Doctoral Research Fellow Sebastian Pohland will present their project at ILN, "Towards Standards in Digital Editions of Old Norse Prose." The presentation will be followed by questions and conversation.
About the project
Pohland's Ph.D. project, "Towards Standards in Digital Editions of Old Norse Prose", at the Department of Nordic Studies and Linguistics, seeks to contribute to the further adoption of digital scholarly editions as a standard in the field of Old Norse philology. The project aims to assess and evaluate the current capabilities of digital tools and technologies for creating Old Norse prose DSEs by creating a test case edition of Þorsteins saga víkingssonar. Pohland will discuss the current state of Old Norse digital scholarly editions, the specific needs and interests of the field, and where their considerations regarding the preservation and maintenance of such editions currently lie.
