About the event

BærUt! Network and Skills Hub for Sustainable Digital Scholarly Editions is proud to call for presentations for a two-day long seminar, titled "404 not found": Approaches to Sustainable Editions, 8-9th of April 2024.

As the title suggests, we want to fill these two days with short presentations by project leaders, philologists & textual scholars, and developers and ask them to reflect on approaches, knowledge gaps, challenges and obstacles related to the topics of data modeling, systems and interfaces, philological and textological foundations and their relation to sustainability and long-term preservation of digital editions. Read more about the event here.

Call for Presentations

We invite participants from various disciplines to a workshop where project leaders, philologists & textual scholars, and developers share experiences and discuss practical approaches to problems concerned with sustainability and the long-term perspective of digital scholarly editions.

Key themes will include:

  • What challenges (primarily: technical, infrastructure-related, storage, accessibility, and operations) have been encountered in preparing the digital edition?
  • What is the current situation (status quo: what problems and challenges does the edition face)?
  • What is the future outlook for your edition/project?
  • What solutions can be recommended to others? Or warned about?
  • Best practices in developing, maintaining and sustaining national and transnational research infrastructures
  • The reproducibility and repurposing of data, workflows, and lessons learned
  • The challenges involved in managing complex Digital Humanities projects
  • Approaches to long-term sustainability and the longevity of digital humanities and arts projects, including digital preservation and especially digital editions

We request focused presentations of 10 minutes, with a particular emphasis on one aspect related to sustainability and the long-term perspective. We allocate five minutes after each presentation for short discussions and a dedicated plenary discussion at the end of each day. We invite presentations in the Scandinavian languages or English.

Target audience

We invite researchers, project leaders, digital philologists & textual scholars and developers, as well as Deans of Faculties, Department Leaders, University IT, and the University Library, to join us for two days of problematizing sustainable and long-term solutions within digital humanities.

You can upload your presentation abstract here.

The deadline is 20th March 2024.
