Areas of Responsibility
I am Section Manager of the Section for Teaching at the University of Oslo Library. I lead a newly established unit responsible for developing, coordinating, and assuring the quality of the library’s teaching activities. Our work focuses in particular on information literacy and the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) in education.
The section is part of the Department of Educational Support. We collaborate with academic departments, other units at the University Library, and study support services across the university to strengthen student learning and educational quality.
Drawing on my experience from research, teaching, and pedagogical development, I contribute to the design of teaching, services, and practices that support the university’s core missions: research, education, and public engagement.
Background
I hold a Dr. Philos. degree with a background in the study of religion and society, and have practical pedagogical training (PPU and UNIPED). My work has mainly focused on how topics such as religion, democracy, extremism, and minority positions can be taught and discussed in schools and higher education.
At the University of Oslo, I have held academic and programme leadership roles. I have developed study programmes and interdisciplinary teaching initiatives aimed at strengthening students’ capacity for critical reflection, dialogue, and participation in society.
I have also worked as Senior Adviser at the 22 July Centre and as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Copenhagen. In Copenhagen, I led a research project on minority religions in the Norwegian education system, with particular attention to textbooks, curricula, and teacher education.
In my research, I combine practical ethics with concrete societal challenges and have contributed to national strategies on democracy education and societal preparedness. I am especially interested in how knowledge can be communicated in ways that enable students and pupils to engage with controversial issues, complex information, and digital public spheres.
