Activities

16:30 Velkommen! Welcome!
English/ Norwegian | Scene HumSam
Welcome to Writers’ Night with writing mentors from the Academic Writing Centre.

16:45–18:00 Using AI as a Student @ UiO
English | Scene HumSam
AI tools like ChatGPT exist now, and they can do a lot. What does that mean for me as a UiO student? What do I need to know? Can I use ChatGPT or other generative AI?
UB’s Hilde Westbye, Andrea Gasparini, Erik Winge and David Burke discuss:

  • Policy and guidelines @ UiO: What are the rules? Are there rules? What do I need to know?
  • Legal considerations: Must I use the UiO tools? Can I upload articles I got from behind at paywall? What happens if I use the public AI tools? What about AI generated images?
  • AI Tools @ UiO: GPT UiO, NotebookLM, Copilot – UiO has its own version of several AI tools. What are these, and what can they be used for?
  • AI and writing: UiO suggests several uses of AI tools for writing. What does it mean to incorporate AI into my writing processes, and what should I be thinking about?
  • What’s missing?: The university does not talk a lot about the ethical dimension of AI on its webpages. What else do I need to think about when it comes to AI?

19:15–21:00 Collaborative writing: Workshop based on art therapy methods
English | DSC-Oasen
What is your key to success in collaborative academic writing? In this practical workshop we will use art-based exercises to reflect on what collaboration can mean for us as writers, and what supports or hinders the process. Rather than focusing on co-writing techniques or tools, this workshop invites creative play and self-exploration, moving between verbal and visual modes of expression.

The workshop is suitable for academic writers at all career stages, from students to professors, regardless of prior art experience. Sign up is required in advance (drop-in possible if there are still places).

The workshop is led by Agata Zelechowska, researcher, artist and facilitator. Zelechowska holds a PhD in musicology and a master’s degree in psychology, and is currently completing a master’s program in art therapy at OsloMet.
