Tips for troubleshooting access issues

Many access issues with electronic resources can be resolved with these simple steps.

Try a Different Browser

Some electronic resources function differently in various browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc.). If you encounter problems, you can try using a different browser.

Clear Browser Data

Stored browser data (cookies, cache) can cause errors when logging in or loading web pages. Clearing browser data can help resolve these issues.

Access via Oria

Access issues may be due to link errors, for example when using a shared or saved link, or following a link from another website. In such cases, searching for the material directly in the library's search portal, Oria, and following the linking from there may help.

Access Outside UiO

Employees and students at UiO and employees at OUS have access to the library's electronic resources off-campus. You can read more about how to access outside UiO here.

No Direct Linking via Oria?

For some articles, you may find that the full-text link in Oria leads to the journal's homepage or archive instead of the article you want access to. In such cases, you will generally find the desired article on the website by navigating to the correct volume and journal issue.

This detour is due to the fact that not all open access journals allow direct linking to individual articles from Oria.

Submit an Error Report to the Library

If the problem persists, or if you encounter other errors, please notify the library's E-resources team.

The best way to contact us is through the error reporting form in Oria.

This way, we can see what the issue is (which book, article, etc.) and automatically receive some technical information that will help us further in troubleshooting.

You can also contact the E-resources team via email at ub-samdig-antil@rt.uio.no. We often respond the same day, and usually within two working days.
