The Digital Scholarship Centre (DSC) at the University of Oslo recently hosted Digital Scholarship Days 2025, a four-day event that took place from January 6 to January 9. Featuring 20 workshops and over 300 registered participants, the sessions catered to a broad range of interests—from data management and open science to specialized software training and data visualization.
Workshops were designed to suit all levels of expertise, from beginners to advanced scholars. For example, participants could learn programming with Julia, explore Git and GitHub for version control, or learn more about AI applications. More specialized sessions covered topics such as video visualization with MG Toolbox, text recognition for historical documents, deep learning in R, innovative sonification of data, and best practices for creating and maintaining data management plans. If curious, please check the full program!
Each day began with targeted sessions followed by a lunch and networking event at Sverdrups Spiseri, creating a community atmosphere and encouraging collaboration among participants. Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the practical skills acquired and the opportunity to engage with other fellow researchers. While the majority were affiliated with the University of Oslo, attendees from other institutions in Norway and Stockholm University also took part.
DSC would like to thank all the contributors, instructors, assistants, and everyone who helped make the DS Days 2025 such a great event. And a special thank you to all the participants who braved the coldest week of winter to attend this year’s event.
